In light of the Haitian earthquake The ABA donated a team, on behalf of the league, to NBA All Star Olden Polynice and Platinum Spyder Whale (PSW) who will launch the team, Haitian Relief. This will be the premiere Haitian basketball team of the USA with an aim to make a difference in Haiti. “The team will be based in south Florida and will raise hope, awareness, aid and national pride in all persons of Haitian descent and beyond”, says Polynice. “On behalf of the league, we of the ABA plan to have a Haiti relief night at every single ABA arena throughout their 2010-11 season”, says Harold Whaley, Vice President of Special Projects of the ABA. Plans are in force for Team Haiti to travel to Haiti to play their first professional basketball game there as an official ABA team.
